“CID Highlight” – Jerk Chicken: CID Rating 5 out of 5

A $5 plate worth… is not enough but we wanted to play it safe since it was our first time at this “hot spot” (see picture below).  The crispy and slightly charred skin was tasty even for those that are a little skeptical about chicken skin and fat.  Fresh out of the oven, with a douse of bbq sauce, the meat was ever so flavorful, juicy and tender.  If I ever find myself east of Prospect Park, I will definitely return to Peppa’s for some Jamaican Jerk Chicken and maybe try the Oxtail Stew next time!

Does the picture above remind you of another “fine establishment”?  Maybe one that serves chicken and broccoli?  With all the qualities of a Chinese take-out restaurant, from the cruddy dark green counter-top to the grimy deep-fryer, and impeccably rude service, Peppa’s serves up Jerk Chicken wicked enough for you to overlook everything else.

“CID Highlight” – Green Curry Crispy Duck: CID Rating 5 out of 5

I’m a huge fan of roast duck any which way you have it whether it be alone, in sauce, in soup, or on a salad.  Growing up that was the number one remedy for all my woes and worries.  Homesick?  Fell off a bike?  Broken-hearted?  Have no fear… have a duck leg instead!  Green curry is another favorite of mine whether alone, with basil, vegetables, poultry, or seafood.  This dish combined two of my favorites and doubled the dosage.  The flavor of the curry is sweet, spicy and milky but never heavy.  The serving of roast duck was abundant.  The small medley of vegetables like bamboo, green beans, and tomatoes adds texture and a bit of your daily dose of vitamins.
